Step 2 - Point Action
Define what happens or is displayed when the POI is selected

  • No Action - Displays Location
  • Redirect to Map - When the POI is selected the user interface switches to another map within the system
  • Redirect to URL - When the POI is selected a new browser window launches the destination URL
  • Show Info Panel

If Show Info Panel is selected the following elements can be used

  • URL - if a URL is entered then a button appears on the info panel which when clicked launches a new browser window that loads the destination URL
  • URL Label - default caption = View More Info - the caption for the button can be replaced
  • Text Editor - enter the textual description for the POI, select Font, Font Color, Font Size, Bold, Italics, Underline and Bullet Points. Hyperlinks (email or URLs) become active
  • Media Element - Choose to display an Image, Slideshow, Panorama or Streaming Video in the POI Info Panel

Option 2 - Display POI by Creating a Custom Icon

Using one of 5 easy-to-use Illustrative Tools you can define or draw an area or line on the map to display the POI on the user interface.

Rectangle Tool & Ellipse Tool - precisely place a rectangle or ellipse over an area on the map to show a POI location; any size and orientation is possible.

Polygon Tool and Curved Polygon Tool - precisely draw around any shape to show a POI location

Wayfinder Tool - Draw lines over the map to show POIs like routes, trails, paths - with or without arrows on either end of the line.

You can choose and set Colors and Opacity Levels for Line and Fill on Rectangles, Ellipses and Polygon shapes, and for Lines using the Wayfinder tool. There are also two states (and for each you can apply colors and opacity) "on display" and "on rollover"

Position POI using a Custom Icon

Option 3 - Display POI by Uploading a Layer
In some cases you want the total creative control that can be achieved by displaying layers. Create a layer over your original map illustration in Adobe Illustrator and export it as a flash .swf file - then import this Layer file to display the POI on the map interface.
